On-site Optimization

You wouldn't expect show up high up on the SERP for a word or phrase that will doesn't appear very often or not at
all on your website. Accordingly, in order to attract the attention of the search engines, we must ensure that our key
phrases and words actually appear on your website. This will unfortunately incorporate some tweaks or even re-
writes with pages or articles in order to thread these keywords and phrases into the website. There are several areas
where these key words should appear. Examples are: - Page Content which include articles - Page Descriptions - the
written text that appears in the superior of your browser after you visit a website. This is also used in some search
engines in the search results. This information is included using "meta tags" that happens to be hidden in the web site
source code. If the page is editable which has a content management system (CMS) they are able to usually be
edited specifically - Keywords - Also hidden in meta tags and made use of by some search engines - URLs - it is better
to have a web site named "... /strategic-asset-management. html" as compared to "... /page2. html Once again there
are actually tools to help examination the relevance of a page with regard to keywords and phrases. This is an
iterative process and to some extent trial and error. The key thing is always to keep the language as natural as they
can whilst using the key words as often as probable - without going overboard. Too much keyword density can result
in search engines such as Google removing a site from their index, if it suspects foul enjoy.

Off-Site Optimization

Google uses a voting system to rank websites and pages the best way of importance when determining which pages
to show presents itself the SERP. It is false that the site with the most keywords gets to the top. It all depends on
what important and relevant a web site is for those keywords inside opinion of the google search. The specific
algorithms as used by search engines are trade secrets and are always being refined, but generally Google works as
follows: Each link back to your page on your website counts for a vote. You could therefore argue that more links you
enjoy the better and this is usually partly true. However, Google is also interested in how applicable that link is. It can
tell if the website linking to your own property has similar key words which is therefore much more relevant. Finally, if
the website containing the back link carries a high Page Rank this also adds weight. For case, if the BBC or even
Times Online (High Page rank) ran an article on Social Housing and had the link social housing to an internet site about
social housing, this will increase the importance of that site for that key phrase. Therefore, it is not so much the
number of links that counts for the reason that quality and relevance with the links. That said, better quality and
relevant links you've got|you might have, the higher up you will definately get. There is one last thing to say about
one-way links. There are some back links you don't want. For example, just as a back link from the BBC carries
weight, a hyperlink from some black-listed sites will damage your rankings. Google know that a few disreputable "black
hat" WEBSITE POSITIONING consultants trade links to boost their rankings. Once Google discovers a really site (or
someone reports a really site), the site can be removed from its catalog.
