SEO might be a confusing venture for most people. Even many so-called-experts can have a difficult time keeping a
website others in terms of the search engines.
Primary... the major search engines are constantly changing their algorithms in an effort to bring you the the majority
relevant website listings to your search query. Yahoo also change their algorithms to stay ahead of the dishonest
companies that quickly learn how to manipulate the search outcomes.
When the search engines change the way they list websites, you can find unscrupulous people who go right to work
trying to figure out how to cheat the system.
This type of person using what's known since "Black Hat SEO" and if you're trying to run the best website, stay away
from them at all charge! Sure your website will receive a high listing rather quickly using black hat solutions, but when
the search engines ascertain what you're doing, they are going to likely ban your website off their listings altogether
(once and for all). And show up, they will figure it out.
2nd... There's lots of misnomers about what's more important in regards to SEO. A few so called SEO gurus will have
you believe page rank is it is important when it comes to search engine listings. This is simply not true.
Page rank (or Google PUBLIC REALTIONS) is one important factor in regards to ranking a site for the search engines,
nevertheless SERPs (or Position in search results Page) is what really counts.
"Page Rank" is Google's manner of putting a number to your authority of a site. If they believe your site is extremely
important, they'll give you a higher PR.
But it doesn't mean the authority of your site will get you indexed for you main keywords.
There are actually thousands, maybe even millions, of websites that contain a low page rank, but are listed over the
first page of the major search engines (including Google), for some top keywords. By contrast, you can find just as
many high PR ranking web pages, which might be buried in "no mans land" when it comes to the search engines
(which include Google).
Also, the other major search engines (Google, MSN, Bing, and hundreds of smaller search engines) don't really worry
about your "Google Page Rank" whatsoever. They only like giving their visitors relevant search results.
So ask yourself this... does one rather have a small Google PR of several, and become listed on the first page with
the search results? Or would you rather have a high PR of 5 or 6, and become listed on the tenth page in the search
results, where nobody will ever find people..? I believe the answer is evident.
One of many websites I built for my other web business, hasn't had a Google PR greater than 2 for the last 4 years
(since it's been live online). But it has been on the first page of major search engines (with regard to my main
keywords) for 3 1/2 of the 4 years. I'll take the lower PR and keep that high listing any day in the week.
