SEO is a confusing venture for most people. Even many so-called-experts may have a difficult time keeping a website
at the top of the search engines.
Primary... the search engines are constantly changing their algorithms to help bring you the most relevant website
listings to your search query. Search engines like yahoo also change their algorithms to stay before dishonest
companies that quickly figure out how to manipulate the search results.
When the search engines change the way they list websites, you can find unscrupulous people who go right to work
trying to figure out how to cheat the system.
This type of person using what's known since "Black Hat SEO" and if you're trying to run the best website, stay away
from them at all charge! Sure your website will receive a high listing rather easily using black hat tactics, but as soon
as the search engines ascertain what you're doing, they are going to likely ban your website from their listings
altogether (for good). And show up, they are going to figure it out.
Minute... There's a whole lot of misnomers about what's more important when it comes to SEO. A few so called SEO
gurus will have you believe page rank is the most important thing when it comes to search engines. It's|This is
certainly simply not true.
Google page rank (or Google PR) is one important factor when it comes to ranking a site for the major search engines,
nevertheless SERPs (or Google search Page) is precisely what really counts.
"Page Rank" is Google's manner of putting a number on the authority of a site. If they believe your site is extremely
important, they'll give you a higher PR.
But it doesn't mean the authority to your site will get you indexed for your needs main keywords.
There are thousands, perhaps even millions, of websites that have a low page show up, but are listed over the first
page of the major yahoo (including Google), for some top keywords. In comparison, there are just as many high PR
ranking web pages, that will be buried in "no mans land" in regards to the search engines (including Google).
Also, the other major search engines (Google, MSN, Ask, and many hundreds smaller search engines) don't really
worry about your "Google Page Rank" at all. They only treasure giving their visitors relevant search results.
So ask yourself this... does one rather have a low Google PR of 1 or 2, and be listed on the first page in the search
results? Or does one rather have a excessive PR of 5 and 6, and become listed on the tenth page of the search
results, where no one will ever find you..? I think the answer is evident.
One of the websites I built for my other web business, hasn't possessed a Google PR greater than 2 for the last 4
years (due to the fact it's been live online). But it has been on the first page off major search engines (for my main
keywords) for 3 1/2 of the 4 years. I'll take the lower PR and keep the high listing any day with the week.
