SEO can be a confusing venture for most people. Even many so-called-experts can have a difficult time keeping a
website presents itself the search engines.
First... the major search engines are constantly changing their algorithms to help bring you the the majority of
relevant website listings to your search query. Yahoo also change their algorithms to stay ahead of the dishonest
companies that quickly learn how to manipulate the search results.
When the search engines change the way they list websites, you can find unscrupulous people who go right to work
racking your brains on how to cheat the machine.
This type of person using what's known since "Black Hat SEO" and if you are trying to run the best website, refrain
from them at all expense! Sure your website will get a high listing rather rapidly using black hat tactics, but when the
search engines ascertain what you're doing, they are going to likely ban your website off their listings altogether
(forever). And sooner or later, they are going to figure it out.
Next... There's lots of misnomers about what's more important when it comes to SEO. Some so called SEO gurus can
have you believe page rank is the most important thing when it comes to search engine listings. It's|This is certainly
simply not true.
Page rank (or Google PR) is one important factor when it comes to ranking a site for the search engines, nevertheless
SERPs (or Google search Page) is precisely what really counts.
"Page Rank" is Google's way of putting a number to the authority of a site. If they believe your site is important,
they'll provide higher PR.
But it doesn't mean the authority to your site will get you indexed in your case main keywords.
You can find thousands, maybe even millions, of websites which happen to have a low page position, but are listed to
the first page of the major search engines (including Google), for some top keywords. In comparison, there are
actually just as many high PR ranking web pages, which can be buried in "no mans land" in regards to the search
engines (including Google).
Additionally, additional major search engines (Gmail, WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER, Ask, and 100s of smaller search
engines) don't really worry about your "Google Page Rank" in any respect. They only treasure giving their visitors
relevant web advertising.
So ask yourself this... does one rather have a small Google PR of several, and become listed on the first page of the
search results? Or would you rather have a higher PR of 5 and also 6, and be listed on the tenth page with the
search results, where nobody will ever find people..? I do believe the answer is evident.
Among the list of websites I built for my other web business, hasn't had a Google PR of more than 2 for the previous
4 years (considering it's been live using the web). But many experts have on the first page of major search engines
(with regard to my main keywords) for 3 1/2 of those 4 years. I'll take the low PR and keep the high listing any day of
